In 2007, President Bush launched a major initiative very similar to the one now at hand that many Americans branded “amnesty” because it rewarded those who broke American law with citizenship and took no action to solve the growing problems on the American border with Mexico. In the midst of overwhelming public opposition to the concept, the measure called “immigration reform” died – or so we thought.
