Released: WordPress 3.0 blends blogs with CMS, adds features - by Bruce Tyson - Helium
WordPress 3.0, the long awaited major version update to the world’s most popular blogging platform is now available for download. The software, codenamed “Thelonius” has gone through a thorough beta process and is now ready to run your Web site. The last major version, WordPress 2.9 was downloaded more than ten million times, a measure of the software’s popularity. With version 3.0, WordPress takes a distinct turn away from being a blogging-specific platform into becoming a native Web Content Management System (CMS) that is available to support personal, business, academic, and corporate Web sites as well as blogs.
